Tresor continues to deliver fresh pressings of Drexciya records from the band’s final, golden period of the late ’90s and very early 2000s. The latest to get the reissue treatment is 2001’s ‘Digital Tsunami’ EP. The title track, in particular, is classic Drexciya: a surging sonic tidal wave of cyber-kinetic electro beats, undulating electronic melodies and foreboding aural textures. There’s plenty to savour across the rest of the EP though, from the moody, bass-heavy oddness of ‘Aquatic Cataclysm’ and the out-there, mind-mangling bounce of ‘The Plankton Organization’, to the celestial, pin-sharp beauty of post-IDM classic ‘Birth of New Life’. It’s one of those records that should be in every electro lover’s collection.
